Telstra Perth Fashion Festival 2015 Opening Night: Dilettante

The Telstra Perth Fashion Festival kicked off with a stunning opening show by local high end boutique Dilettante. Dilettante isn’t just any high end boutique – not only does it stock the world’s top luxury brands but it’s retail space combines fashion and creative installations that are ever changing. Dilettante is more fashion gallery than shopping boutique so it was really no surprise that they opened TPFF2015 with an elegant show.

3 designers were showcased during the Dilettante show – Yang Li, 33 Poets and Toni Maticevski, and while each designer had their own personal and very different aesthetic they combined to fill the runway with monochromatic magic and just a hint of intrigue.

Yang Li:  sharp, edgy separates / frayed hemlines / dramatic, voluminous silhouettes

33 Poets: rich textures and layering / heavy beading and embroidery / tribal inspired prints

Toni Maticevski: masterful tailoring / structured draping / feminine and whimsical silhouettes

My personal favourite was 33 Poets – it was unique with it’s rich layering and the tribal influences. The heavy beading and embroidery made each piece stand out and gave a high end, luxurious feel – something that can often be hard to achieve with tribal prints and textiles.
