Telstra Perth Fashion Festival 2014

It has been an amazing, inspiring week of fashion here in “country town” Perth thanks to Telstra Perth Fashion Festival (TPFF), and I was lucky to be able to head along to a few of the shows.

Saturday night kicked off with Camilla and it was bright, tropical prints and colours enhanced by a bit of bling factor. It just made me want to join Camilla’s tribe with feathers in your hair or (I couldn’t decide) wanderlust for a tropical beach, cocktail in a coconut and my very own silk kaftan. Camilla’s collection was all about her journeys into Vietnam, including the people she met, and all things that were rich with colour, texture and life.  As you would expect there were a lot of stunning kaftans floating down the TPFF runway,  however my favourite pick was the playsuits. Just as easy & breezy as the heroic kaftans but a little more wearable away from pool deck.

Following Camilla was the WA Designer Runway featuring labels: Asuar, Bruug, Ethel & Leo, Morgan Marks, Sara Winfield Swim, Wild Horses, Zed Alliance and Steph Audino to close. If you have yet to hear about any of these labels, get on board because they put on amazing show and made my credit card weep. I wanted to tackle those tanned models as they walked passed just so I could get my hands on the next item soon to be added to my “want list”. After watching this runway it was clear this summer it’ll be all about clean lines, funky prints and a hint of metallic. My favourite picks for the night? Bruug, Zed Alliance, Wild Horses and Ethel & Leo.

Bruug‘s clean lines and never out of date colour palette of white, blues and greens won me over. Their looks would not be out of place on a yacht, but lucky for us mere mortals Bruug is all about being affordable. If you have the yacht? No nuts, and lucky you… What’s been added to my wish list? The strapless navy playsuit, Bistrot pants and white dress with floaty green stripes.

Zed Alliance was femimine with their lace crops and straight pencil skirts. If you haven’t yet invested in a matchy-matchy two piece set then Zed Alliance will change your thinking and have you slapping down your money. The crops were lady-like but with sex appeal, just enough skin to tempt a lover and show off bronzed skin. My favourite? The metallic and orange numbers.

Ethel & Leo injected fun into the runway with their bright colours and so cool it’s wacky prints. If you follow Instagram you already know I am in love with Jess and her designs, so it really comes with no surprise that I already have my next wardrobe pieces picked out. I have unending love for Ethel & Leo’s cockatoo crop and coral dress. All I can say is bring on the hot weather so I can feel cool in these silky designs. (A kiwi tote wouldn’t go astray either!)

Effortlessly beautiful with a hint of sporty attitude walked the runway for Wild Horses.  The cool kids were definitely walking the runway for Wild Horses in their mix of watercolour prints and metallic mesh. They definitely left me with desires to join their clique. The sexy strapped Grecian maxi gown has me scheming for a party just so I have an excuse to buy the dress! Ah-mazing!

To close the WA Designer Runway was no other than the lovely Steph Audino, fresh off the runways from NYC Fashion Week. Wow after wow floated down the runway. Steph’s designs are ethereal and show stopping, if you haven’t stalked her Instgram you need to! It makes you want to have a Cinderella moment. I loved the crimson red dress (seen last night on Leah McKenzie at the Brownlow Medal red carpet). However if you are like me, without a ball insight then the simple black dress will see you through the upcoming wedding season. Either way you will make excuses to get your hands on one of Steph’s designs.

It was another Perth label that closed TPFF 2014 with a bang, literally I can still feel the bass from Zhivago’s futuristic runway show vibrating through my body! Zhivago is well known for it’s figure hugging, strong shouldered dresses, and last night wasn’t an exception. Fierce models strutted to the heavy bass in moody metallics, form fitting fabrics and strong shouldered silhouettes.  It’s the strong shouldered silhouette that gives Zhivago wearers a fierce sexiness and I want on board. The cocktail dress with cut outs & slings will look at home on your body at Matisse this summer. Otherwise my other favourite pick is the booty-licious shorty shorts (hello squats!)

Either way Zhivago didn’t send a fault down their runway last night I would buy them all, especially their blue sequin booty shorts and matching jacket – as seen on Kendall Jenner earlier this year at the MTV awards, so you know Zhivago is where IT is at!

Like anything good you know you’ll have to be quick to get your hands on any of these designer pieces once they hit stores, and believe me I will fight you for them! WA you have done us proud!
