Telstra Perth Fashion Festival 2016 Opening Night

It’s that time of year, Telstra Perth Fashion Festival (TPFF) has kicked off for another year.

The opening show featured the sleek modern lines of Dion Lee, fresh white Flannel, tailored Bianca Spender and crowd favourite Zhivago, however it was Romance Was Born that stole runway.

If I could choose one word to describe the Romance Was Born collection it would be opulent. Ok maybe two words – OTT Opulence. There were textiles featuring intricate embroidery in every rich jewel tone you could think of, then these colour saturated textiles were enhanced with sequins, feathers and jewels. From head to toe – literally. Crowns, feathered turbans, embroidered shoes, shoes with long ostrich feathers that danced when the models walked – Romance Was Born transported the audience to a world that Iris Apfel herself would dream of, it really was “more is more” and I loved it.

Romance Was Born created an experience and I never knew I wanted (nay, needed) feathered shoes to wear with a matching feathered turban until now.

Bravo Romance Was Born, not only did you steal the runway you also stole my heart.
