5 Trends for Spring and Summer

After a whole month dedicated to fashion around the country, it’s clear that many designers are on the same style page. From Telstra Perth Fashion Festival (TPFF) to Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW) and Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival (MBFF) 5 trends have emerged as being clear favourites.

Metallic

Nothing says celebration like metallics, so it seems appropriate with the party/Christmas/NYE season approaching, and shiny, sparkly goodness was seen gracing models at MSFW and TPFF. From gowns covered in sequins to a flash of metallic bralets, Just want to dip your toe in this trend? Go for a hint of metallic with a bralet (a la Michael Lo Sordo) or full force with a cocktail dress like those from Zhivago. No matter what you’ll stand out with this trend.

Sheer

The perfect trend for when the temperature starts rising. There is no easier way to keep cool and stay chic then with a hint of skin under a sheer fabric. Sheer was seen at Carla Zampatti in the form of cheeky cut outs or full sheer tops like those by Morrison. Just make sure you keep sheer looking fresh with striking underwear like cut out or lacey bralets.

Lady-Like

From lace to pastels to midi skirts, it’s all about putting your sophisticated self forward. This trend is perfect for the upcoming races season (horses and flippy skirts? Winner!) Need a bit of edge to keep the pastels from overwhelming you? Try a cropped top like those by Zed Alliance to stand out, it’s still lady-like but less conservative than your Nan.

Prints

Inject summer fun and colour into your wardrobe with tribal textiles or prints with personality. This is the time to show off your humorous side and playful sense of style. Take note: serious is out, colour with a hint of wacky is in!

Sport Luxe

This trend is still going strong and will continue to remain an integral part of your wardrobe this spring & summer. It’s not about taking your yoga pants to the street, it’s still luxe after all. Think mesh, bomber jackets, track pant inspired draped pants and boxy shapes (through shorts or shift dress). Take it from the street to cocktail hour by adding some strappy or lace up heels.
